At the Labrador West Housing and Homelessness Coalition, we strive to ensure that every individual in the region has a safe, affordable place to call home.

Homelessness, it can happen to anyone.

The Housing Support Worker understands sometimes things happen in life that is beyond your control, and can turnlife that is beyond your control, and can turn your world upside down. Violence, mental illness, relationship breakdowns and job loss are just some of the things that can happen in one’s life which can leave you struggling to keep a roof over your head. The Housing Support Worker realizes this and is, therefore, very empathetic, supportive and non-judgemental towards anyone who seeks housing support. The Housing Support Worker also believes in second chances, and that housing is a basic right to which everyone is entitled.

If you are homeless or at risk of being homeless, the Housing Support Worker is only a phone call away.

HOUSING SUPPORT WORKERS

The Housing Support Worker assists people who are either homeless or at risk of being homeless find and maintain stable housing. In doing so the Housing Support Worker will assist the person in obtaining the necessary goods/services required for permanent housing. The Housing Support Worker will assist anyone who is homeless or at risk of being homeless, however, priority will be given to individuals who have complex needs. These are individuals who intersect multiple service provider systems and whose circumstances often result in them continuously cycling through social , correctional, mental health and/or addiction services.

Our support workers:

• Assist people secure stable housing

• Provides referrals and client advocacy

• Assists with landlord/tenant issues

• Provides assistance with the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing applications

• Assists with eviction prevention and life skill guidance.

• Provides information regarding the Newfoundland and Labrador Residential Tenancies Act.
